The Geneva Motor Show melds the size of the North American International Auto Show with the prestige of Europe’s Fashion Week. This awe inspiring gathering sees top tier automotive companies gather around for an exclusive showcase of vehicles for journalists, consumers, and only the most tenacious enthusiasts.

The Switzerland show stands out from the crowd in the sense that every company is on equal footing. This is important since the main draw is for companies to unveil only their most powerful and/or luxurious models that can cost as much as an airplane. Companies Porsche, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin been known to skipped various auto shows across the world but they have never missed Geneva.

Consistent with the other big Auto shows there was some downsizing this year. Big names like Rolls-Royce, Bugatti, and Koenigsegg did not have much in the way of new cars that they haven’t already shown elsewhere. HOWEVER  based reports there were indeed over 40 global debuts in the iconic Palexpo convention center.

These are the ones that excited us the most!

McLaren 720S

While we are sad to see the McLaren’s Super Series lineup lose the 650S, the 720S more than makes up for it. It’s not only lighter and faster than the outgoing model, its revamped engine has an all new build that gives a boost in power and control.  Looking at the pictures you can see these unique butterfly doors  and the best part is that they fuse form and function by both looking cool and letting you get in and out of the car a much easier. What we also like are the transparent C-pillars that allow drivers to have full awareness when navigating  the 720S through tight spaces.

So, yes, the 720S is a major upgrade from the 650S. We are looking forward to see what McLaren has in store when they replace the rest of its lineup.

Lamborghini Huracan Performante

The conventional wisdom is that new variants of existing cars receive a mere cosmetic change. The Performante is so much more than that. Lamborghini sent the Huracán to the gym, metaphorically speaking before giving it a makeover. This beast is kept in motion by a naturally aspirated, 5.2-liter V10 engine dialed up to 640 horsepower. The new groundbreaking active aerodynamic technology gives is more down-force without creating excessive drag. The Performante is also lighter than last model thanks to a new, patented type of carbon fiber named Forged Composite.

Volvo XC60

Volvos XC60 is marks the latest chapter of what their press releases refers to as their “renaissance.” It

S no coincidence they chose this model since crossovers are in demand all around the world, and the last model is the Swedish company’s best-seller.

If it is not broke, don’t fix it: the XC60 still keeps most of the predecessor’s defining styling cues, like the slanted D-pillar, and they mix and match them with the 90-series models’ accents. The interior is much fancier, and the XC60 brings the latest edition of Volvo’s intuitive infotainment technology to a new segment and a whole new level.

Mercedes-AMG GT four-door concept

AMG is back. The independent tuner now a full-blown sub-brand of Mercedes still has the clout to create their own cars from scratch. The new GT concept is already making waves since its Geneva debut as it is the first sedan designed entirely by AMG. It is a symbol of their new autonomy from Mercedes.

On the outside it is a four-door variant of the GT coupe, but it’s built on an unique platform that includes a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine and an electric motor. Working together they pump out a whopping 805 horsepower.

Pagani Huayra Roadster

Without a doubt the Pagani Huayra is one of most beautiful cars ever and it’s a good thing too: this has been a long-teased debut for years! The wait is over and it was definitely worth it because it is unbelievably well styled and blindingly fast.

Renault Alpine A110

Not to be outdone by AMG, Alpine is back with the Renault Alpine A110. This is a lightweight, mid-engine sports coupe designed to remind us all of the sporty magic of the Alpine brand.

Welcome back, Alpine.

Aston Martin’s New AMR Division

The Brits have had a long rivalry with the Germans for centuries and so in response to the return of AMG and Alpine, Aston Martin is here with their new AMR division. What does that mean? The answer is simple: faster Astons.

AMR (Aston Martin Racing) has one job and one job only: be the British brand’s tuner. That means tighter handing, more power, and much more aggressive styling elements. To drive this point across,  AMR brought two of their newest concepts to Geneva: the Rapide AMR and the Vantage AMR Pro. Any chance we’ll see either in a James Bond movie?
